WIELDER | TOP DOWN POINT & CLICK

In Wielder you play as a flying sword that must destroy all robots.  In developing this game James’s objective was to create a game where he could tie all the mechanics of the game together.  As a result, the sword’s speed is their health and to increase their speed they must destroy robots. There are three types of robots, each increasing in difficulty which consequently require the sword to move at a faster speed to deal damage. By connecting all the mechanics together, the entire game can be played with only the mouse, making it very accessible and easy to pick up.

JAMES CAUNCE | YEAR 3 STUDENT

“UCLan’s Games Design course has allowed me to explore all aspects of games design and improve my skills”

James’s favourite part of making games is the theoretical side.  Understanding how all the components of a game can fit together to tell a story and engage the player. When asked what his favourite role within the design team he concludes “I am probably a concept artist” .  And this is what he is continuing to develop with his growing portfolio of designs.
