BLOCKSHOT | Puzzle Game

Inspired by classic 2D puzzle game Tetris and more recently Beat Saber; Blockshot is designed to be a simple game with an addictive gameplay loop.

Shoot blocks with a range of lasers to stop them from stacking too high and watch out as subsequent levels increase the pace and chaos.

A 2.5-week project, everything except the sound was done in UE4.  Starting with coding the falling blocks and laser I then moved onto creating the levels and extra mechanics. Play testing was so important as I relied heavily on how it felt in a 3D environment. It was quick and easy for me to place the blocks where I wanted them, test gameplay, implement changes, and then rinse and repeat until it felt right.

I composed all the music and used laser sound effects from zapsplat.com

I really enjoy single player games with stories which are woven together with the gameplay. Hugely inspired by the indie scene, particularly developers like Toby Fox, who create unique and amazing games just because they love them.

I also like to produce music for the games I make.  One day I’d love to be a part of a team who works on super fun and interesting games trying out awesome new ideas, and maybe make some music for them as well!
