ENVIRONMENT ART | BETHMOORA
DESIGN INSPIRATION
Inspired by Lord Dunsany’s short story ‘Bethmoora’ (1910) this mysteriously lost beautiful civilisation, abandoned in the wilderness became a very inspiring concept for Saija’s final year project. During summertime the landscape should look very inviting but now it’s Autumn and the distant city is not expecting any visitors and a mood of desolation and loneliness has descended.
To create her unique vision, Saija took inspiration from Roman and Etruscan architecture. The copper embellishments and rough stone chunks tell a story of something which was built to last, but for reasons we will never know, didn’t quite make it.
Developed as an Honours Final Year Project using MAYA | MUDBOX | WORLDMACHINE
